My akita dog has black patches on his gums does anyone know if its normal?

i have just noticed the black patches on my akitas gums today and i'm quite worried just in case it's serious.
Answer:
It is normal, just as people have different skin color, it is pigmentation. humans also have pigmented gums, more so in the African American Race.
