My stiches hurt in my mouth ..how long before they dissolve so i can eat solids they are on my gums?

Answer:
about 2 weeks u can take solids food, dont bite on the surgery area, put some toothpaste on the cotton buds and clean the area.Don talk too much. Take care
u should ask the doctor..not us stupid ppl
lol u are asking the right person i have a total of 259 stiches and i got 7 inside my mouth it takes about 3 weeks for me then they went back to normal hope i helped
normaly one week to 2 week,s hun i can suguset smoothie,s and ice cream and folllow your dr order,s on washing your mouth with water and salt
everyones different. i know its hard living on soups and milkshakes, ice cream etc. I had all of my teeth removed for dentures and the doctor did that to me . I had to go abouta month to month an a half. i was starving so bad! and i gained 15 pounds just eating what i could get down. but when the stitches are gone your gums will still be very sore . youll have to take it slowly when chewing. i can now eat almost anything thats not very hard on my gums. ive had dentures now for 5 yrs. amd the hardest part is the stitches and soreness. ice cream did soothe they aching in my gums. i hope this helps you out!
if they hurt then most likely they are not dissoluble, there the old fashion kind,so i say call your dentist.
First, most resorbable sutures dissolve in 7-10days. Second, you do not usually have to wait until then to eat solid foods.

My sore thoat is so dry! What do i do??

I was using alot of salt when i gargled, is that what's causing this?
Answer:
hydrate urself with plenty of water though u will be treating toilet as ur secong bed. but still drink lots of it as it is the most essential factor that will help u recover.try adding some lemon and honey to the water (diluted please), u should feel better.if it persist more than 2 weeks, pls seek for doctor advise, they will issue antiseptic lozenges for possible throat infection.
Gargle with hot salted water.
duh!! drink some water
PRINCESS,THE HIGH CONCENTRATION OF SALT IN THE WATER WITH WHICH YOU GARGLE DRIES OUT THE TISSUES, SO DN'T BE SURPRISED IF THE THROAT FEELS DRY.
SWITCH TO GARGLING WITH A NON-ALCOHL MOUTHRINSE LIKE LAVORISOR CEPACOL.
HIGH SALT GARGLES ARE NEVER GOOD FOR A SORE THROAT.

My son lost a "ROTTING" tooth, he is 5 yrs old...i don't see a new tooth incoming. Will one grow in normally?

I'M NOT SURE IF IT WAS ROTTING BUT IT FIRST TURNED GREY.
Answer:
the tooth turned gray because it lost its blood supply and was dying off...my daughter who will be 5 next week fell and broke part of a tooth 3 years ago and 4 weeks ago it turned gray and she had to have it pulled...her dentist and oral surgeon said there would be no problem with the permanent tooth coming in...did it fall out on it's own,if so you should take him to the dentist and have them look at him and even do an x-ray to check the permanent tooth.the new tooth might not come in for a year or so,at least that is what we were told but then it might come in tomorrow...we just don't know
to the first responder why would cps come after the mom...
You are being selfish. Take him to the dentist and pray that Children's Services doesn't get you.
And what does the dentist say??? Why would we be able to answer that?
It might have been tooth decay or something. But still. See the dentist. My friend Jenna had a calcium (or something, I dont remember what it is called) with her tooth. It wasnt the cleanest tooth that she lost, but after 2 years, the tooth never grew in. She had to move something in her tooth. It might take a while though. Maybe it was a little to early for him to lose it.Awkward?Hope I helped:)
Wow, you really need to take him to a dentist. He should have gone when his tooth first turned grey. I don't think that means that it is rotting, just dead.
See a dentist. They can feel for it or take xrays to see what's going on.
That is completly normal and a nice new tooth with come in perfectly. I know this because when I was about umm... 6 or 7 years old the dentist took the nerve out of one of my teeth it turned grey a year later and I just lost it. The tooth seems to be coming in fine. A bit crocked but that is not because of the greyness just how my teeth are. Your son should be fine. If you have any concerns you can always call a dentist or the dental association in your state.

My son is in dental school. I pay $50,000/yr for his tuation fees. how do i get best out of it?

What income bracket should i be, to get most break in tax.
Answer:
I think you should ask this question in the %26quot;Business and Finance%26quot; section under %26quot;Taxes%26quot; for the best chance on getting an answer.I do not think there are any tax breaks for paying someone else's tuition, but I'm not an accountant.Maybe you can get a home equity loan to pay the tuition and then deduct the interest on the loan, since it's home equity. This might make sense, even if you have enough savings to pay outright. Or it might not...
...let him pay his own tuition and fees.thats what loans are for. Most dental students are on their own. Sorry if it didn't really answer your question though.

My son is four and his gums are black what is this called and should i take him to see a doctor?

THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF HIS GUMS ARE BLACK AT THE BOTTOM YOU CAN SEE VERY LITTLE PINK
Answer:
wtf?! you should be reported to CPS. how did you let it get so bad? i don't know if this is terrible parenting or what...
i would definitely take him to see the doctor/dentist
Yes you do need to take him.he most likely has a bad infection.I am surprised he is not in pain.Call a child dentist and get an appointment
hi
im not exactly sure maybe it could me a gum infection'
or maybe he might be bleeding underneath his gums
but the best thing to do is to take him to a dentist just to be sure
hope this helps
If your son isn't African American, take him to the doctor. Could be a lot of things, but it's not normal. Can be Addison's disease, hemocromatosis, lead intoxication.
Good luck
This may be a sign of periodontal disease, which can cause him to lose gum tissue, bone, and teeth. This is a good reason to start him on his regular dental check-ups now.
Humm. Not sure, but I sure hope he gets the help he needs. I personally haven't ever heard of this! Except with animals which is just simply their breed. Good luck!
This is the closest answer I could find for you. I hope it helps!

Altering Melanin Pigmentation
Participate in a Melanin Dark Gums to Pink Treatment PollUnusual ginigival pigmentation characteristics occur more frequently in some cultures, as compared to others. Persons with genetic ties to Mideastern and South African cultures oftentimes acquire this characteristic which is manifested by discolored (purple - brown) or splotchy gums.
The Causes of Purple, Dark or Brown Gum Tissue
In general terms, melanin, carotene and hemoglobin are the common pigments that contribute to the normal color of gum tissue. Certain imbalances of these pigmentation components cause the distortions in cosmetic appearance. In some cases the condition is known as black gums. The degree of discoloration and saturation varies between individuals. Coloration can be spotty (light to dark brown or purple) or it can affect the entire gingiva (all gum tissues).
Clinical Research
Several clinical studies were performed comparing the application of different treatment methods (both surgical and non-surgical) and technologies. The Erbium:YAG Laser was consistently found to provide the most efficient and safe treatment for altering melanin pigmentation in the gingival tissues, thereby producing aesthetically correct pink gums.
Some Cosmetic Dentists have the technology and expertise, providing this effective, non-invasive, non-surgical treatment that can create healthy uniformly pink gum tissue.
Healthy Pink Gum Tissue - A Realistic Goal
Practically any degree of pigmentation problems can be overcome with today's advanced Erbium Lasers. As our after photo here shows. pink gums are an attractive cosmetic goal for many our patients.Typically, laser treatments for removing melanin deposits incorporate a minimum of anesthesia... usually just a topical treatment. The process is practically pain free, both operatively and post operatively. Itchy gums are often reported during the first few days after treatment.Gary Bram, DDS

It could very well be an infection or gingevitus. send him to a specialized dentist/doctor immediately
this comes fron genetics (heredity).. one of his ascendents is black or from african origin...may be very far on your genealogic tree..may be unknown..you how much adulterine children have born.. and everyone found how much he looks like his father..(there a lot of melanocytes in gums...it s only ethnic reasons )
yes as the others has said the black./brown gums can be heredity you never have said if your of African or Indian/Asian descent ???
i have seen all kinds of body parts splotchy covered in pigment in these populations in my experience
and anyways it doesnt hurt to have him a check up at the dentist anyways,

My son has to have gum surgery to bring 2nd molars down. Anyone have any idea what this means in "mom" terms?

Answer:
I had to have this done as a kid, and it hurt quite a bit for the first day. Stock up on ice-cream and jello and lots of soups. He probably will feel ill from the pain, not to mention if he swallows blood, he might be seriously nauseous (which happened with me). He'll have some pain for two or three days, but after that, I was fine. I had it done on a Friday afternoon and I was back in school by Monday.
lots of ice cream...he'll be fine. Its not real common, but they just cut the gums so the teeth will move down.if they don't move down they may have to coax them...
i would say that his 2nd molars are up too far in the gums so they have to whittle away at the gums to expose the molars.this is only a guess...but that is the first thing that comes to my mind
Mom should provide lots of ice cream and TV cause that hurts!
sounds like his molars (flat, large teeth at the back of your mouth) are stuck inside his gums. they should have naturally come out. they want to move them out with surgery.btw, please ask your dentist/surgeon questions and don't be afraid, after all, you're paying them to do this. they need to take a moment and address your concerns. you are their customer and patient's mom, don't be shy and ask all you need.
LOL
It means they have to release some pressure to allow the permanent teeth to descend. Second molars are there early in life but need the tooth in front of them (the baby teeth) to get out of the way. Usually they fall out. Dentist may pull it
I'd definitely get a second opinion.
FYI In the future ask DOC or HCP to fully explain the procedure.
Are you asking for a description of the procedure? Basically, it's called expose and bond. I don't know if in your case they are bonding the teeth or just exposing them. If the teeth are surrounded by gum, they may need to be surgically exposed so they can come down to the proper position. Sometimes they need to bond the teeth., which involves a bracket and small chain to help %26quot;pull%26quot; the teeth into position.
His molars may be impacted which means that they are still covered up by bone. This happens quite a bit with wisdom teeth, and sometimes other teeth as well. They will cut the gum tissue as someone already said, and if the teeth are impacted in bone, then they will remove the part covering the tooth so they can come down into their natural position. Sometimes the teeth need more help to come down so they will attach a bracket with a weighted chain which will pull the tooth down. (as someone already described) The 2nd molars are also called twelve year molars because they usually come in around the age of twelve give or take a year or two. Many dentists don't like to leave teeth impacted because they can run the risk of causing complications. Some dentists will leave impacted wisdom teeth alone, and just keep an eye on them to make sure that they don't develop cysts around them or cause movement of the other teeth. However your son will need his 2nd molars therefore your dentist rec'd having them exposed. Don't worry many other children/young adults have gone through this before, it is not uncommen as I have seen the procedure many times. Don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you need too, to understand this procedure to the person doing the surgery (dentist or oral surgeon). I would also check out impacted teeth on the net. Good luck.

My six year old has an adult tooth behind the milk tooth, its been 3 months like that.. problem..?

We took my daughter to the Dr and Dr says wait for another 2 months as the milk tooth doesn't have roots they will fall eventually.. But will the permanent tooth be crooked
Answer:
Probablly not. You may want to take her to a dentist who speciallizes in pediatric dental care. They will be able to tell if it will effect her adult teeth.
Some milk teeth fall out eventually..others do not. My sister never lost 2 of her milk teeth..she had them pulled in High School and they did make her teeth crooked ( the adult teeth were forced to come in behind since no space was available ) I also had 1 milk tooth pulled at age 19...My adult tooth did not come in until I had it pulled. I am now in braces because the adult tooth did not come in right. I say get them pulled as soon as possible..it wont hurt much since they have no roots..and it will give her adult teeth the best chance of coming in straight.

My ship might be coming in soon and I would like my teeth done. Like those makeovers shows. Who do I see in SA

Answer:
Hi,
Go to Lister Bld, I think it is on 1oth floor and you will see a dentist clinic. They will do it for you at a reasonable charge. Lister Bld is in Jeppe Str., Johannesburg.

My right molar knocked out and the back of my front right tooth feels chipped what should i expect to fix this

Answer:
If you have that much wrong there is no telling what the general condition of your mouth is. Step one - go see the dentist and they will write up a proposed treatment plan so you can see what's involved and make an informed decision about your treatment. At the very least, a crown and a composite filling, but it could be much more.

My novacaine from the dentist didnt numb me after 2 shots, thus he didnt perform the procedure ?

removal of tooth 31 and the roots-now my right jaw is hurting hours later
Answer:
Try going to a cometic dentist that has more experience in correcting or extracting teeth. they may also use a different anesthetic other than novacaine. I know because I recently had a filling done and those 2 shots numbed my face from the nose down for about 4 hours. good luck! I looked on my discharge papers and unfortunately the name of the anesthesia used is not on there..sorry.

My NHS dentist fitted 2 oversized bridges 1st cracked/lost 2nd broke teeth below. Distraught where do I turn?

After 1st bridge refitted due gum recession, was told to wait a month to affect oversize it only lasted 2 weeks. Asked for implant referral was sent dental hospital on 6 month waiting list were they don鈥檛 offer implants and they said referral was for a plate. I had two ill fitting plates made at my dentist due huge loss. I went my dentist again as an abscess remarked on 9 months earlier swelled and caused great pain. I was given the strongest antibiotic made as over years of treatment antibiotics were issued at nearly every occasion. My 2nd bridge was loose and the temporary to final replacement put so much pressure on lower bridge another abscess was created. Shards of the removed bridge were found between my front teeth in the evening. The final fitting was postponed as the bridge was not correct to my dentist鈥檚 standards but it was fitted anyway as a temporary to be removed in two weeks. This one fitted well and left the promised correction to other work open. The final fitting was delayed as my dentist had a holiday but it still took an hour and a half of extreme effort to remove, the back of my head was numb for another hour. The bridge was as before oversized and eliminated possible correction to previous work. My panic at its destruction had me call at least six times over many months and despite the previous bridges fitting this one could not be reduced further. A plate was created to even the pressure and be worn while sleeping but when fitting was reduced too much and ineffective. I believed the lower bridge broken as it was loose and becoming worse but I was told not. A last emergency appointment of 3 weeks had me attend the dental clinic as an emergency. I had been waiting since February for an appointment as requested of my dentist but a phone call suggested neither 2 said attempts had been received. I had asked the receptionist if I could attend the hospital without referral she said no. The emergency鈥?option must have slipped her mind as had the hospital not offering implants though she did state a year later that I couldn鈥檛 afford it as reason for subterfuge. The correct implant referral was made after 13 months of my request, the price quadrupled. Decay to the area of the 2nd abscess and pressure to the bridge had broken it. The hospital does implants for car crash victims and extreme cases as a special case I can only hope my luck will change but I am in pain the bridge very loose as is are another three teeth and I need a root canal. My dentist capped every tooth over and over till they fell out. Then the rules changed payment was no longer on work done but on time taken like an hour and a halt to remove a temporary bridge. I have tried to change my dentist but as the shape of my mouth has been lost nobody wanted to know.
Answer:
Have you tried going to abroad for treatment, it will be better and cheaper. Not sure which country, India may be best.
An option may be a holistic dentist-look in your local yellow pages

Answer:
Unfortunately this is always a risk when you have bridgescrowns ect but they dont normally tell you. I unfortunately also had this problem. I think that you should go back to the same dentist and ask what he can do to help. Other then that you could try private treatment but that will be very expensive

My mouth stiffens when too much talking's done so as my mouth sometimes. Why? how can i get rid of it? please.

A nurse once told me that i need to go a doctor who specializes 'Nerve' things. but i think that'll cost me a lot. Please gimme some remedies or tips to atleast minimize it. Thank You.

Take some motrin, never chew any more gum and stop talking so much. Find a new job if you have to.

My mouth feels raw?

The roof of my mouth is raw cause i was kinda scratching it what should i do for the pain or to heal it?
Answer:
Try to not eat hard, hot, or spicy foods for a while, these foods may irriate your oral tissue. Any sore or normal tissue damage heals in 10 days in the oral cavity. Rinse with salt water a few times a day and try not to eat any irritating foods, or suck on suckers, etc.
Rinsing your mouth regularly with a salt solution (one teaspoon of baking soda, 戮 teaspoon salt, and one quart water) helps prevent infections and improves healing of a sore mouth and throat.
only time heals that unfortunatly sucks but you r mouth is the fastesthealing part of your body so it will heal in a day and half

My mom is getting dentures...?

My mom is getting dentures. Getting all her teeth pulled out on Tuesday and won't be able to eat %26quot;regular%26quot; food till at least 7 weeks. My mom is really thin to begin with and they are worried about her weight going down. Any suggestions on soft foods or some sort of protein drink to keep up her weight and strength? Thanks a bunch!
Answer:
She wont be able to chew but you can puree her food ( put in a blender) I have worked in the nursing field for years , when i was doing my training we had to feed eachother (students) purred food , it tastes the same but its just like pudding , you can blend the meat add some kind of sauce to blen with it to make it soft or you can blend it where she just has to gum it , i suggest her eating broths and puddings soemthing very smooth no salt or seaonings for the first few days till the gums heal some or it may cause more pain ...Good Luck to you and your mom . And some Ensure health shakes would also be good to keep her weight up . or blend some cake or ice cream wouldprobbaly feel good on her gums . try some fatning foods to keep the pounds on .
mashed potatoes are good, creamed corn, rice i guess, soups good to.
Your mother might like a banana shake, or baby food. She can also use blender to process home made chicken or beef soup, vegetable puree etc ...

My jaw is still swole up from 10 days ago. Can someone please tell me why having 2 teeth pulled hrts so bad?

I had 2 molars pulled on the top in the far back 10 days ago. I am severe pain. The gum is absess like. I have went through
2 scripts of vicodin, a couple percacets, some loritab, a whole bottle of ibprofen, a whole bottle of advil, bottle of excedrin, and some goodies! Nothing is working. My dentist says I probley have dry socket but that it is to healed to tear open. How can I deal with the pain before I od on otc medications?thank you!!!!
Answer:
SEBRINA,YOU DEFINITELY HAVE DRY SOCKET. TAKING MORE NARCOTICS LIKE LORTAB OR VICODIN WON'T REMOVE THE FEELING OF PAIN FOR LONG.
YOU MUST GO BACK TO THE DENTIST AND HAVE A LOCAL DRESSING PLACED INTO THE SOCKET AND SUTURED IN PLACE SO IT'S NOT LOST OR DISTURBED.
TAKING TOO MANY PAIN MEDS. WILL WEAR OFF THEIR EFFICANCY. DRY SOCKETS DO EVENTUALLY HEAL. GOOD LUCK.
Ok,
I'm not an expert at this let me tell you that. But, I think that you could possibley have a case of gum disease. DONT WORRY, when you see that word. As bad as it sounds, it can be cured ! Simply floss and brush more, that's all I can say. Try to chew on ice to bring down the swelling but if this contuies I say for another 2 days, till around Monday after-noon, you should contact your doctor. Hope I could help you!Best wishes!
Lie down and sleep will help. Also there's a really nasty tasting paste your dentist can apply to the sockets to make them feel better. Also moist heat will help! Hope you get to feeling better soon.
if the medicine is not working, which first of all you shouldnt be mixing so many kinds, it sounds like an infection due to the absess..try and get a prescription for amoxicillion, penacilin,
or if its bad enough arithamyerson...good luck
rinse your mouth with salt and water, use orajel then take a extra trength advil or motrin it always worked for me like that... I experience the same thing but i got 4 pulled out on the same day...
Well, your doctor should know that by now this seems to be an infection, and antibiotics should be prescribed. It may be something as simple as a staph infection, but if it isn't treated, it could become severe. Call the doc ASAP and ask for meds!
thats sucks, its cuz dentists are dumbasses, they tell you everything is wrong so they can get more money
they are c*** suckers
thats why it hurts
now vote this top answer so i get points
If you go back to the office they will place a little foam with a dry socket paste that doesn't taste good. However it will take the pain away imediatelly. Also, if you smoke or sleep with your mouth open that will cause the dry socket, that's what you have.
Dry socket is extremely pain full, and it sounds like you have had quite a cocktail of painkillers. You do need something for the pain, I strongly suggest you go to ER, tell them about the pain you are in and what you have been taking. I am afraid I don't think much of your dentist allowing you to suffer like this.
Local medications work wonders in these cases. Have your dentist put some dry socket medication in the socket. Rarely it takes 2 applications. If he uses wick form, you will have to have it removed. If paste form just don't wash it out.

My jaw is in pain!?

ok so im pretty sure i have tmj.. my jaw is always cracking. but lately it has gotten so bad everytime i open my mouth my jaw cracks and it hurts, i cant chew on the right side because when i bite down its painful. my sister's have a dentist apt. today. do you think maybe if i went with them they could squeeze me in and do something. and if so what will they dO?%26gt; thanks!
Answer:
You don't need a dentist you need an E.N.T. specialist! as your jawbone evidently, has ligament problems. Make an appointment with your doctor and let him refer you to a specialist. Have a good day.
Yes i think they would if you tell them your problem. You can also be grinding your teeth at night when you sleep. You can buy a mouth piece that will help from grinding your teeth at night. Please check with dentist. But look into the tmj.
try emflame plus tabs
it sounds like tmj
sure go with ur sis maybe they can fit you in,if not u can make an appointment while ur there
you need to find a tmj specialist to determine what level you are.....i am severe which means i have had a permanent orthodic(bottom jaw splint) for 5 years...only now I have to go a full year without any adjustments to my jaw (painful shots of steroid) before surgery can repair it.....you sound like a moderate severe case....headaches, earaches, ear feels full of fluid, dibilitating pain? your sister's dentist may recommend you wear a night guard on your top teeth, but that only makes the tmj worse....the top jaw is connected and the bottom is not, it just floats...go to a specialist, not a regular dentist...if you are close to me i can refer you..email me and i will tell you where i am from..hope you feel better....

My Incisors (front teeth) are eroding exposing dentine. How can I stop this?

Hello! My incisors are thinning, becoming translucent and sharp. They have curly edges and the ridges on the edges seem to lead to fine cracks. I have had symptoms of GERD(Gastroesophageal reflux disease) for a long time. But of late the symptoms have abated, nevertheless the erosion is constant. Doctors I've consulted really don't know how teeth could erode. They think it's absurd. They don't know anything about GERD. That's how doctors are trained in India. My incisors are getting shorter. I don't grind my teeth. Is there any simple way I can hinder this erosion. Is there a way to cap my teeth because they seem pretty fragile now and i don't like short incisors. Thank you.
Answer:
Ger syndrome is often associated with teeth erosion mainly palatel sides of upper insisors.its also seen in anorexia bulemia and other condition which create more acidic condition in mouth and the teeth get eroded at the thinnest parts initially.
its not fair to blame the training in india but the attitude of dentist and patient has to change.
Ok treatment options,
You can opt for a cmposite fillings,(most conservative if you have enough of tooth material left)
ceramic veneers
or crowns as you wish...
you could find a lot of updated dentists in india but has to have money.and time ...
Talk to your dentist about vaneers or caps. Get a consultation from more than one dentist as to what your options are. Good luck. :)

My husband is suffering with mouth smelling by afternoon/evening what can i do to solve that?

he is ready to go to dental cleaning %26 he feel if i say truly eventhough i am telling daily but he is not taking care of that but i need to take care of him any one tell me tips to avoid that in home. usually i give warm water %26 mild warm water to mouth pulling with salt. anything best help morethan this
Answer:
Show him to a good doctor. Tell him to chew an ilaichi once a day too.
listerine
dental cleaning along with quitting his smoking and drinking habits and with regular drinking of plenty of water and brushing after food
Suggest to your husband to brush his teeth after every meal and
rinse his mouth with a mouth wash. Spicy foods make also a smelly mouth, cut down on those.
use a little rock salt mixed with sesame oil and rub gently along the gums. rinse mouth frequently with warm water in which lemon juice has been added.
If he goes to his dentist regularly for cleanings and still has bad breath have him try tongue scrapers, and crest pro health mouth rinse. It is alcohol free, and works really well. The tongue scrapers will remove dead cells off of the tongue which harbor foul odors. Though I must warn you, the first few times he tries it, if he has never done it. It can be pretty icky. The smell combined with what you see is not something for weak stomachs, but if you do it regularly you will see the benefit as well as better oral hygiene. If he suffers from halitosis after that? then he should go see a professional to make sure there isn't a underlying problem, or also try consulting his dietary intake. (ex. if he eats tons of onions, garlic...) Tongue scrapers really work, I personally think they work better than brushing your tongue with a tooth brush. Anyhow at this point is sounds like he should at least give it a try. Let me know how it works out for you!

You can try clay! It's not crazy, it can help!http://www.botanical.com/products/learn/...

My gums show A LOT when I smile and...?

someone said: %26quot; Yah, there is a cosmetic dental procedure that can fix this. They use a special laser to raise the gum line, so less gum shows when you smile. It's relatively inexpensive and safe, ask your dentist about it. HTH : ) %26quot;Okay. I hate my smile so much. Its so annoying. And I have superr small teeth. not my baby ones either. My mom has ir and so does my cousin, but I have it worse. I've always been self-consious about it and when I found out someone was making fun of my small teeth, and calling me %26quot;gumbo%26quot;, I knew I had enough. There HAS to be a way to fix this!
I need to know if anyone has gone through this %26quot;procedure%26quot;, or if there is even one and about how much it costs. And there are 'teeth caps' or something... not sure, but Hilary Duff has them,
And if anyone knows exactly what they are called and about how much they cost,
I'd be so grateful it wouldn't be funny.
%26lt;3
thankyou.
Answer:
The procedure you are referring to for improving %26quot;gummy smiles%26quot; is gingivectomy.A dentist or periodontist will cut away some gum tissue from the gumline on the 6 front teeth (upper or lower, or both, but it's usually just the upper) to make the gums look shorter and the teeth look longer. From your photograph, I can see that your problem is overgrown gums. That happened because you weren't able to maintain good oral hygiene due to the braces (I see the brackets on the photo you linked to). Braces makes teeth harder to keep clean, and all the germs causes your gums to swell and overgrow. You definitely need the gingivectomy, and probably not just the front teeth because you got generalized gum overgrowth everywhere.I would wait until after your brackets come off, however.Hope this helps, and good luck.
Ok, there is something called a frenum, in your oral cavity. This is the tissue that holds your lip to you gums. What you can do is have surgery on the frenum.
HELLO,I SAW YOUR PICTURE AND YOU COULD REALLY BENEFIT FROM LASER GINGIVOPLASTY. THIS PROCEDURE SHOULD BE DONE AFTER YOUR BRACES ARE REMOVED WHEN YOUR CASE IS COMPLETED.
HOW DID MY GUMS GET THIS WAY?
SADLY, FROM INADEQUATE ORAL HYGIENE. THE SWELLING IS OFTEN CAUSED BY AN OLD ACCUMULATION OF PLAQUE. IT CAUSES YOUR GUMS TO SWELL OVER THE BRACKETS. YOUR TEETH ARE NOT TOO SMALL.
FOR ALL MY PATIENTS WITH BRACES I ALWAYS RECOMMEND THE WATERPIK MACHINE. AFTER A FEW DAYS OF USE THE SWELLING STARTS TO GO DOWN AND A HEALTHY TIGHT, CORAL-PINK COLOR COMES BACK. I THINK YOU USE THE WATERPIK BEFORE YOU OPT FOR SURGERY. THE UNIT IS FOR SALE MOST EVERYWHERE LIKE WALGREEN'S, WALMART, OSCO, ETC.

My gums have dropped inbetween my front two teeth?

well,it started 2 days ago at the orthodontist, i got my braces tightened, and then i went and flossed, but when i did,the floss when almost all the way up the tooth, now i look in the mirror, and my gums inbetween my front two teeth has dropped a whole bunch, what should i do?!?
Answer:
I think this is because when you have braces, they are actually moving the tooth from it's home and moving it, naturally the gums are going to have to move out of the way, so for awhile they may seem loose. That's why you have to make sure to keep all the nasty bacteria out of there.
I have braces and I bought a water pik, absolutely love it, I bought one you can adjust the hardness level.
It gets where floss can't always get, and washes out your gums, it's supposed to promote healthy gums.
I would mention it to your dentist, but in the meantime, take extra care of your gums, and get a waterpik.
Call your dentist.
Don't worry. The dentist will tell you all about periodontal disease.
go to the dentist x

My gums bleed when i brush my mouth wats up with that?

Answer:
I am going to take a stab at the reason and say it is gingivitis.
Gingivitis is the inflammation or infection of the gums caused by buildup. There are two kinds of buildup, soft sticky plaque (and when that hardens) that turns into tartar, which is hard like cement. If you haven't had a cleaning you should see your dentist or hygienist for a checkup, xrays (if needed) and a cleaning. During the cleaning the plaque and tartar will be removed. Although you can remove plaque at home flossing and with brushing 2-3 times a day the tartar cannot be removed by you because it is too hard and often inaccessible. You must get rid of this infection or it can evolve into periodontal disease, which is when the bone surrounding your teeth begins to breakdown. Dental (mouth) health is directly related to a healthy body...Hope that helps!
JAMRDH - a dental hygienist
do you brush at least every night?i floss 3 times a week and my gums bleed because i think i don't do it enough.
Your probably brushing too hard. Get a soft/ medium bristle brush and brush in circular motions. Also try a mouth rinse (crest) that helps strengthen your gums and teeth. All else fails see you dentist.
You have the early stages of gum disease. Use a gentle brush, brush at least twice a day, floss every day, and see a dentist to get a cleaning.
Simple ,your gums are unhealthy. Most often as a result of improper cleaning brushing and flossing.First thing you may need to do is to go to dentist and get scaling done and subsequently get into the habit of flossing for sure followed by brushing. Do consult a good dentist. I was like you. wish yo all the best!
This site will give you a possible 5-6 reasons for this : Good Luck !

My gums and teeth on the lower rightside appeared to have all shifted inside. so the areaofmytonge is smaller

this is scaring me because how far inside will this go? will eventualyl my right side of my face cave in? i don't understand why this is happening.
Answer:
I think it's due to the global warming...With the shifting of the earth's crust starting to happen more and more I find that this gum tonge problem you seem to be having is becoming more and more commonhttp://globaltongeproblem.com
Go see a dentist or orthodontist... get braces maybe?
Sounds like you might be needing braces to correct the shifting and to prevent any further shifting. Go see an Orthodontist for a consultation. Most Orthodontists dont charge for consultations. Good luck...your face WONT cave in ;)

My gum is swollen around a tooth that has a cavity?

Is this definitely an abscess tooth or a definite root canal i have had these cavities for a while but the swelling just started today!! Im scared please HELP :(
Answer:
It is probably abcessed and you will probably need a root canal. Call your dentist int he morning and tell them that you are in a lot of pain and that you cannot sleep (lie a little even, they'll get you in). They will have you come in and look at it and probably give you an antibiotic to kill the infection. It will help, that happened to me and I took only 2 pills and the pain was gone. They do have to kill the infection before they work on it anyway
I am NOT a dentist but I would definitely call today. Maybe they could put you on an antibiotic right away to avoid a root canal or something.
Brush teeth and gargle with warm salt water. I have had that same pain before and that has worked for me. Mix baking soda and peroxide together and use it before the toothpaste. It cleans out any infection. I am 50 and have all my teeth with clean pink healthy gums. Maybe you cut your gum like I have done before with dental floss.
take care of it now or else not only will you need a root canal, but you will develop gingivitis. not fun.
it sounds like you are getting an abscess you need to get to the dentist asap and he/she can get you on some antibiotics to get the infection under control and then they can fix the tooth. but don;t put it off.
an absess occurs on the gum. a root canal is a procedure done by a dentist. you have an absess. go to the dentist and get antibiotics as soon as posible. absesses are infection between flesh and tooth.go read http://www.emedicinehealth.com/dental_ab...
Here's a link that will tell u what u need to know, hope it helps :)
my guess would be that you have an infection, go to you dentist get on some antibiotics so that they can fix it. if you start having pain then you defiantly have an infection. and they won't do anything until you've taken antibiotics and gotten rid of the infection.

My front tooth is slightly broken. What should I do??

The dentist told me that she can't use fillings to fix it because it would fall down quickly. My teeth are also too small to be fixed.
Answer:
Ask the dentist to smooth the area so that it does not appear broken. Sometimes bonded fillings will not stay in tiny chips but the tooth can be smoothed. If the chip is very noticable and cannot be smoothed away--ask about veneers. Veneers may also be a way to enlarge your front teeth if they are small and you want a new look for them. Your dentist can explain how they work and if you are a good candidate for them.
Ask your dentist. She would be the only one to know all of the options and be able to properly asses your best one.
go and get pure white sculpture nail mix, and create your own . its not a perfect fix but it will get you through a tough time since no one else will help. i would suggest going to the dentist and inquiring about implants or a bridge.
My brother is like that. Half of his front tooth fell off. His dentist recommended getting a cement tooth.

My friends teeth fell out what schould she do to look good again??help!?

Answer:
If they were baby teeth then do nothing because the permanent teeth will grow in. If they were permanent teeth then she should go to the dentist. There are all kinds of options like porcelain veneers or bridges. In order to get veneers you need teeth to apply them to so bridges would probably be the best option... How did her teeth fall out?Make sure she goes to the dentist soon.
Stop doing meth...
Visit the dentist, they can put in a removable wiring on the back of her teeth, with a fake tooth that looks right as new, or they will permanently insert one in her mouth.

My friends son had to wash his foul mouth out with soap. now his bottm lip is swollen what does she need to do

what does she need to do to take the sweeling out
Answer:
nothing it will go down. She should have done this it will teach him a lesson
Eating soap is dangerous. That was a very stupid thing to do. Ice may help, or you may need to see a doctor.
shoot him. he aint worth keepin.
no i agree with her punishment and put some ice on it
Try to put ice on it to make the swelling go down
she needs to report herself to child protection authorities as an abuser, and take him to the doctor's - in that order.
Rinse with a lot of water. I can't believe he had to do it. That sucks! Look at the label on the bottom of the package, or on the Internet and see what else to do. Most likely the swelling will go down.
It's most likely an allergic reaction- call Poison Control.
LOL, when i was little my parents had to do that 1 time to me. thats all it took. I think that the kid will be ok, if anything, a little bit of benadryl cause it should help w/the inflamation.
Look 4 a doctor.Ice can help.
that is a rediculous saying. Soap can be toxic. Parents are just stupid.
take the kid to a doctor. soap is not intended for the insides of our mouths. they are sensitive to burns.what kind of idiot would do that?
She needs to let him give her a good smack in the face for making him eat soap...im 15 and like 5 years ago my mom made me eat soap and i got sick
see a doctor and put ice in it. your friend shoulod be reported to child abuse. that's sick.
getting soap in your mouth isn't good for you, but it's not supposed to swell up. call poison control and see a doctor.
What kind of soap was it? Licking or tasting regular soap might hurt a person, but eating it could make a person sick or have an allergic reaction. A household cleaner type of soap would be poisonous.Call poison control for good advice.
Your friend is a freaking idiot who confuses discipline with abuse.
Don't pretend your friend will do anything to help the child - I suspect he or she knows the authorities consider this abuse. %26quot;I forced my son to eat soap and now his mouth is inflamed%26quot; is not the kind of thing that wins Parent of the Year Awards. I know your friend is just going to %26quot;wait and see%26quot;, and pretend everything is fine. S/he will be too worried about covering his/her own a$s to even consider calling a doctor, which is precisely what needs to be done. Then take parenting classes so you learn how to be an effective disciplinarian without HARMING your child.
Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid.

My friend has really bad breath, what should I slip in her drink?

I'm not trying to be mean, but my friend has some serious nasty breath.
Answer:
A few seeds of cardamom chewed for a brief while will clear the mouth of bad breath. Chewing parsley leaves, which are sure to keep your breath fresh. More useful remedies at http://useinfo5.blogspot.com/
Lysterine. But make sure she drinks the whole thing.
slip in a note with the message... %26quot;your breath stinks!%26quot;
What I do is casually one day start talking about all the horrible bacteria that lives on the tongue and how you need to brush your tongue...nice and far back on it, to get rid of them. Brushing your tongue really helps with bad breath and mabye she'll be really scared of the bacteria and start doing it?
no roofies... big red gum is great for bad breath. you can be honest with your friend and mention the breath problem. brushing teeth, flossing and tongue brushing can help.
Offer her gum or some mint candy... =__=
Well, I can suggest one great mouthwash called %26quot;Therabreath%26quot;. It contains Oxygen and kills bad breath completely. They also make gums and lots of stuff that you can simply offer to your friend. Go like %26quot;do you want a gum?%26quot; If you do it two or three times, she will get your point. Tell her that you just went to a dentist and they cleaned your teeth. Maybe that'll work.
If she is your friend you should tell her in a nice way. Her dental hygiene might be adequate, perhaps she has a medical problem or perhaps it's something she eats.
Give her Listerine strips, Altoids, or tell her parsley is really good for her. Or just tell her u have bad breath a lot and she might check hers too. Good luck!

My filling has fallen out and it hurts like hell?

what can i do to help it tried paracetemal and ibrofren the dentist isnt open till tuesday i think
Answer:
Mouth wash. Keep the tooth as clean as possible. If you have any 'cloves' in your herb cupboard, take one of these and place it inside the mouth next to the tooth. If you have powdered 'cloves' rub a little of this around the gum next to the tooth with the hole.If you cannot get to the dentist and you have a supermarket open near you now, get some oil of cloves. This will ease pain.
Cocodomol is best, still going to hurt though.
goto your local accident and emergency unit, the have dentists there as well... its free..but thats the NHS for you
use some desensitizing toothpaste like sensoform. Ibrofren is a good choice for pain relief...
Try Nurofen Plus which is Ibuprofen and Codeine. Its really good for pain relief.Try resting your face where the pain is on a hot water bottle, that might temporarily ease the pain a little, and make an emergency appointment to see your dentist tomorrow.
clove oil from phamacy maybe tesco,s off the shelf. works a treat
Oh sweetie that sucks! Makes my teeth cringe thinking of it!
There should be an emergency dentist near you. If you haven't already ring your dentist they may have the number on their answer phone!
If all else fails Ring, (don't attend) your local A %26 E they may have the number!
Hope this helps :)Clive's advise is really good if you find mines pants! :)T
ouch poor you
When this happened to me -------
As a temporary measure ,
i put some chewing gum into the hole for pain relief
. it worked well
as long as the gum remained in place
so chew some fresh ready,
( chew on the good side LOL)
and replace it falls out again Be sure to see the dentist on Tuesday
before infection sets in all the best
take two panadol # no more#
every four hours, if you need to . %26gt;^,,^%26lt;
Well it's Tuesday tomorrow, phone them first thing and tell them how much pain your'e in.

My dentist uses a Black and Decker to drill my teeth.....?

should I trust him with future work on my teeth?
Answer:
What does he use for polishing, a sander?
Are you freakin serious! OMG
yes you should he knows what he's doing!
Don't trust Black and Decker.
Change dentists.
Yes...black and decker are prone to breaking down after about 10 uses.so he'll get cheesed off and use a hilti or dewalt...much more suitable for the job.
That's nothing - my dentist needed to remove one of my wisdom teeth - he used a claw hammer and chisel to knock it out - when that only partially worked - he got a 12%26quot; screwdriver out and levered the tooth out
Probably picked it up cheap from Argos.
Slack and Decker more like.
blimey you must have a big mouth lol whats he fill it with sand and cement
I hope your not serious, if you are report him
You really should think about changing your dentist.

My dentist said he is going to fill the gap between my front teeth. How do they do that?

Has anyone ever had this done? He said he was just going to make each tooth a little wider to fill the gap. What exactly do they do to teeth to make them wider? My aunt had to have her front teeth fixed, and they filed each one down to a little post, then put a fake tooth on top of it. Is that what they would do for me too?
Answer:
bonding...it will look somewhat like it's part of your tooth but its almost like playdoh...they can shape it however they want so that it looks real...
most times if it is easy they can cap it. or they can cover with veniers.
I've never had it done but I dont think it hurts, they may numb your mouth. It probably will use the same thing as your aunt, porcelain Veneers. You might be able to see someone get it done if you watch the show sometime. Its %26quot;10 Years Younger%26quot; on TLC, weekdays 1pm est/pt. Enjoy your new teeth! :D

My dentist is stumped, any one here have the answer?

I had a molar filled with a permanent filling but went back and got it removed because whenever I drank/ate anything cold I felt a jolt of pain shoot up the side of my face where the tooth is. The dentist put a temporary filling with some medicine in and I stopped having the problem. I just got a permanent filling put in again and I am having the same exact problem as I had before. There is no pain when he taps it or when I eat, just an initial jolt, almost like a pop, when I drink/eat something cold. Also, after the initial jolt I can continue eating or drinking the cold item without continuous pain or another jolt unless I stop eating for a while. Any ideas out there or does anyone else have this problem?
Answer:
There are several options: have the dentist take the filling out and put a base layer of the medicated filling in first and then a layer of the permanent filling over that. This will help insulate the underlying nerve from changes in temperature. If the existing filling is an amalgam (silver) restoration, have the dentist replace it with a composite (white) filling. (With the base layer of the medicated filling inserted first.) Tooth colored fillings don't transmit temperatures very well to the nerve chamber. You may need root canal therapy: make an appointment with an endodontist for a consultation. Good luck
I've had this problem its because of a pinched nerve in your tooth that i sensitive to hot or cold I ended up just getting the nerve pulled out
Root canal. You must have a really bad dentist.Get another one
i had that problem too where a tooth was extracted and after had pain.I could say that that there is still a root under your molar that麓s causing this pain.I would suggest you consult another dentist.Get an x-ray done.greetings
sounds like a nerve is exposed. The filling won't do anything for that tooth. You might need a root canal. Get a second opinion. A filling shouldn't hurt afterwards.
Get your Dentist to double check the bite (with that blue/red/etc marking paper) as it may be off. Leaving the bite high causes sensitivity to cold and can actually kill the nerve if left. Temporary fills are usually softer and have some %26quot;give%26quot; so this would explain the reduced sensitivity. Best advice have your Dentist ck the bite with you sitting up as our bite does change when laying down, tap your teeth really fast (so as not to over think your biting position), and try to bite in your normal biting position (do not concentrate on the position of your filling). Good luck.

My dental partial was made with way too much metal. Any way to have it covered w/tooth colored vinyl/plastic?

Answer:
DAWN,
GO BACK TO YOUR DENTIST AND TELL HIM/HER YOU WANT A THERMOPLASTIC RESIN METAL FREE DENTURE CALLED VALPLAST.
I NEVER USE METAL WHEN I PRESCRIBE PARTIALS FOR MY PATIENTS. THEY LOVE IT!
LOOKS GREAT AND FITS PERFRECT. MANY FORGET THEY EVEN WEAR PARTIAL.
If it's a removable prothesis, you can probably make a new one out of plastic (it depends on the extent of the area without teeth). Or you can get another prothesis with a different design (if possible).
When the dentist did your try - in appointment he should have let you look at it. And then you could have told him what you didn't like. Unless he made you an immediate partial then you pretty much have to rely on his judgment. If it's a good dentist he will let you know ahead of time what he's doing. You should go back to him an tell him that you don't like it and have him get it changed to vinyl free of charge!
That's what my boss does for our patients if they're not happy with his work.
My partial doesn't have any metal at all. It's all pinkish colored like the rest of my mouth. It cost about $500, so you might not be able to afford one. Ask your dentist about it.

My dental hygeineist about killed me with her pick and ultrasound thing?

That was 2 days ago and my gums are still hurting and swollen. She said she doesnt know what else to tell me except to floss more often. She kept digging at this one tooth and said she thought maybe it was just the natural groove of my tooth.
Finally she dug out some kind of Ultra sound wave thing and started hard core cleaning my teeth.
I have my teeth cleaned every 6 months and examined.
Why are my gums still sore after the cleaning? Do some people just make a lot of plaqe.
I have great teeth. Never had one pulled, but about 13 fillings. Is it the hygeinist or should I just start going every 4 months like she reccomended for cleanings?
I brush and floss regularly. This is nuts. Now I am scared to go back again.
Answer:
My husband has gum disease. He didn't know he had it until the visit to the hygenist and now has to go every 4 months. Before he got cleanings from another dentist every 6 months, and he totally missed his gum disease. My husband went through 3 sessions, each one where she was really scraping the tartar/plaque. She was really agressive. The reason she said was that she was hoping to have him avoid gum surgery. And he was also numbed. But afterwards, for 3 days, his gums were first really bloody, swollen to day 3, light bleeding, still swollen. Then within 4 days, the bleeding stopped, but still swelled until his last session. He was also in pain and asked for Ibuprophen (spelling?). It worked like magic and he slept it off. Also, he soaked threw 2 pillowcases after the second session. Now, his 4 month sessions are less agressive. It is a reg cleaning. Ask if she is being agressive because of gum disease. Is there extra calculas on this particular area? My husband was very grateful within a week of the scaling. His gums felt a lot better, less inflamation. If you feel she was overly agressive, I suggest getting a second opinion. Good luck!!
You should not be that sore over two days after a routine cleaning, unless you have gingivitis. IMHO the hygienist was far too rough with you and you should try to get someone else.
I've found that some hygienist's are much more rough in their cleanings that others. I had one that would just beat the heck out of me, like you described, and I had to tell the dentist that she was too rough and I wanted someone else the next time. If you are cleaning your teeth properly, there's no need for them to scrape and dig as hard as you say she did. Everyone has plaque, but good brushing/flossing habits make their job much easier when you're in for a cleaning.I would see if you can get someone else to do your cleaning next time. I have great teeth, and only one filling, and I was scared to go to the dentist because of this lady. That's just not fair to you and no fun at all. Good luck.
You need to tell the dentist that, an while your at it go find a better dentist. I had a situation like that I never went back, an what they did to you is torture, if you wanted to u could sue.
Ugh, that sounds anti-fun, and I usually love going to the dentist. My sister and I have pretty bad teeth, no matter what we do for them. The hygienist said to come in every 4 months because some people just have worse teeth than others when it comes to plaque.I have a ridge between my front teeth that all dentists think is a cavity, so they floss it and scrape it, etc. Now I just start out telling them about it so they can avoid the drama.Like the others who've answered you, I've had different people clean my teeth. All were rough but one, so I asked her why it didn't hurt this time. She said it just depends on who it is, so next time, ask them for the gentlest hygienist they have.
Change your dentist. Get a second opinion from another one. There is a laser treatment for swollen gums, 3 times treatment and your gums heal. But the dentist has to see for himself. Maybe not everybody's gums are treatable. On the other hand having 13 fillings in the mouth is not a great thing. That means your teeth already have been hurt, it's just a matter of time for them to fall out. I would recommend you go every 4 month to the dentist..))
Sounds familiar, continue flossing, mine recommended Crest Glide, but I think it's too smooth. I use the generic Walmart type, non-waxed. Switch to motorized toothbrush, they really clean better. Look in the mirror after she has cleaned your teeth, there should be no plaque on the inside of your bottom front teeth. You should be able to run your tongue along them and feel the gaps. After a couple weeks, if you flossed correctly, the gaps should still be there. My wife's aunt is a hygenist, very aggressive, but very thorough.

My daughters permanent teeth grew in before the baby teeth fell out!?

What kind of dental issues can I expect in her future?
Answer:
You should be OK. Not seeing them in person makes it a little difficult to tell. It is a good thing that her baby teeth have stayed in so long. The baby teeth actually help provide a good %26quot;pathway%26quot; for the adult teeth to grow into. Making adult teeth straighter and less likely to move and shift. If the baby teeth are still in, behind or in front of the adult teeth, you can take her to a Dentist and have those teeth extracted, relatively pain free, or at least much easier than wiggling until it eventually comes out. The Dentist can also evaluate her while she is there as well, making sure that there are no supernumerary (Extra) teeth that are growing in. When adult teeth are growing in on top of baby ones, it can make it a little difficult to ascertain whether this is the case, since it isn't too easy to just count them. Good luck, and make sure the tooth fairy gives her a little something extra for being a good girl at the dentist! ;-)
That is normal. Nothing to worry.
Quite normal. The baby teeth eventually get forced out, and the action of the tongue pressing against the new teeth straightens them up over time.
My daughter is doing the same thing now. She's five and her first permanent tooth is growing behind her front lower baby tooth, and it doesn't seem like a good position.I'm hoping it will adjust.Good luck :)
just wait and see
my daughter is going through that now, she has baby and permanent teeth in the same gaps, i wanna rip out the baby ones but they arnt even wobbly, ive just gotto wait and see too, good luck
THIS IS NORMAL, EVENTUALLY THE BABY WILL FALL. LATER ON THE WORSE CASE SHE WOULD HAS TO USE BRACES.

My daughter recently got braces and they r killing her it calmed down after a week or to but she went?

yesterday to have them tightened again and her mouth is as sore as the first time will this happen every time she has them tightened concerned mom
Answer:
Very normal, it hurts a lot in the beginning, but just give your daughter some ice cream and give her something slightly hard to chew on--but not too hard!--like hamburgers or some sort of meat, but make sure u cut it up first so its easy to chew on. By doing this, the pain and the pressure will slowly decrease on her teeth. Do NOT give her anything liquidy- like soup or anything to drink, its not bad for you to give that to her, but that will just cause the pain to last longer. Every time she gets her braces tightened in the first few months, it will become sore in the beginning but it will only be temporary.
Trust me, you dont need to be concerned at all, hey, if braces didn't hurt then that would be no fun at all! Give her aspirin and ice cream.
after she gets used to it,it won't bother her
re-alignment of the our teeth is not an easy process. Yes, it will likely be uncomfortable for her every time they are tightened, I'd stock up on ibuprofen.
Yes it might a bit, but after a while it tends not to hurt so much. I had braces and the first few times was pretty painful and I had trouble eating. They should eventually calm down as her teeth start to move about. :-)
Yes it will, and you need to tell the guy he is tweeking them tooooooooo much. (Invisline is a better product if you can use it). It is not unknown that patients can loose all of their teeth thru what is called root resorption. Better to go slower...
I've only recently got mine off, and while they do hurt when tightened, the pain should hopefully lessen each time, and the overall results are great :)
It's a good thing that your daughter is feeling pain. It means that her teeth are getting straightened. The pain does go away in about a week or 2, and she will feel it every time she gets them adjusted/tightened. I had braces for a year and a half, and I have to suffer with the pain too, so I know what it's like. I go for adjustments every month, and my teeth are very straight now.
yeah..my kid has the same problem and yes, it probably WILL happen almost every time the braces are tightened. For pain relief, have them take ibuprofen, but for even FASTER relief, put 1/2 tablet Tylenol right ON the gums ...Don't rely on Tylenol too much, as it can cause liver failure! There are dental salves, but they wear off too fast.Have her eat soft foods (oatmeal, chili, pasta, mac %26 cheese) until the pain subsides.
no her mouth just might be sensetive
Yes, it will happen every time...at least it did for me. Remember when she was teething? the same things that helped then will help now, rub her gums and Anbesol, this should help until the worst is past.
Yeah, they do hurt when they're tightened - sometimes more than others. Right now, she's just not used to it. Give her some kind of pain meds right before the appointment and then make sure she keeps on top of the pain for the first few days with Tylenol or whatever. It takes the edge off at least. The pain of braces is a rite of passage with kids. It's no fun but she's sure not alone in that arena. My poor parents had 4 of us in braces at once and it could be a bitchy household sometimes. Not all my appointments resulted in nasty pain, and they didn't tighten all my braces every single time. The things they do will vary at each appointment so there will be some times that are easier than others. Just remind her how great she'll look when it's all done. It is so worth it to have a pretty smile = D
She will get use to this but have her eat something cold to cool it down. Next time before you take her in give her some Tylenol or some type of pain reliever.
she should get use to them and other then that, give her an aspirin for temporary pain reliever and make sure she massages her gums with a tooth brush because that will take down the swelling and reduce the pain, also if they are hurting her, don't give her any food that has lots of chewing.
Yeah, braces suck like that. It's completely normal, but you get used to it after a while.
They will hurt every time she gets them tightened unless you go back with her and say to them to loosen up on it. My orthodontist is terrible and she ALWAYS tightens them too tight so on my band day my mom came back and told them to not tighten them so much and the results were great. If they keep hurting have her go to the ortho tommorow and get them loosened and you will see the difference. I took Advil and Tylonl when I got my braces tightened a week ago and it helped. PS I am getting a new ortho! He might be better!
I am glad you asked this question as my son is going through this right now and the answers were really helpful. I keep telling him to think that at the end he will have lovely straight teeth and that seems to hop him a bit.
yes every time they are tightened!! it only lasts a day or two just ake some kind of pain relief!! it coz her teeth are fighting against the pressure of the braces!! i had mine on for 15 months you kind of get used to it!!
I know very well how your daughter feels: I got braces about three weeks ago and I suffered a lot during the first one. Sometimes I still feel a kind of bother, but, cheer up!, because it's a good sign: it means that the braces are doing their work. I know it won't comfort you daughter, but I assure you that, even though I've been having one for such a short period, I already see the results. When your daughter will give up on braces, she'll have a wonderful smile. Believe me, although it hurts a lot it's worth it!

My daughter is having her tooth extracted tommorow?

shes going to be sedated, im really worried as i have to be with her when they sedate her, has anyone been through this before?
Answer:
Have been through this many times with my son. You will be with her as she goes into her %26quot;magic sleep%26quot; - if at Southampton General she will have spent the pre-op period in a wonderful playroom, which is also the recovery room, and will go down to the theatre on a gaucho jeep, if it is working. (you could ring the dayward to find out). While waiting the nurses will have put 'magic cream' on the backs of both her hands (to make sure at least one will work ie not be pulled off) which enables them to put in the canula later on with no feeling. The staff are brilliant and as you talk to her she will just nod off as they put the sedation in via the canula in the back of her hand.
You then have waiting time (they will tell you how long)until you are called to Recovery near the theatre to be with her as she fully wakes up. Go and have a cup of coffee in the canteen, chat to a friend or for a walk about outside as this is the worst bit. You will be called into Recovery where your daughter will be at that nice drowsy state of just waking children have and will then be transferred to the dayward. You both will then stay back on the dayward until the staff are sure she is properly awake and drinking. Then home. If you are calm then she will be too.
Are you asking us if YOUR daughter is having her tooth extracted?
Yes, relax, it's easy. I have been sedated and watched someone.
There are so many different ways to sedate so difficult to tell you what exactly will happen but her eyes will close and she will be away in about 5 secs,
Relax, it's nothingDon't listen to what Sunshine says it is not at all scary.
My daughter has been sedated a few times (put to sleep) due to surgical operations - what ever the reason - its quite scary. The staff should help you feel at ease - they will be trained too. She will seem a bit sleepy for a couple of hours afterwards - and more than likely need to rest. Mum's comforting cuddles and love should do the trick. Keep calm for her sake as she will be nervous too. %26lt;33
4 years old is pretty young for dental surgery! I had 4 molars extracted when I was about 10 and it was so easy. My mom did stand there and she held my hand at first because SHE was the one that was nervous!! All I remember was them putting a mask over my mouth and nose and telling me to breathe and count backwards from 10. I think I got to 8. If they needed to inject me with anything, they did that AFTER I had the gas so I never felt a thing. (I've had that numbing cream they use to insert IVs before and it did freak me out since I watched them do it. I was 16 at the time and it was for sinus surgery. I cried.)
Next thing I remember was being woken up and feeling like I was sleep walking. My mom and a dental assistant helped me into a dark 'recovery room' with a little bed thing. I stayed in there with my mom until I fully woke up. I was totally fine, it was my mom that was all concerned. Blood was pouring out of my mouth afterward (4 adult teeth pulled at once is a lot!) and all I could do was laugh. My mom kept telling me to stop it because it wasn't funny. As long as you don't make a big deal about it, your daughter will be fine. Laugh about how funny it is or something. Don't be too serious or else she might catch your vibe and get a little scared. Good luck.
I'm sorry you have to go through this, but don't worry, the techniques are very well practised and the regulations governing the safety of the procedure are very strict.Maybe you could ask if there is anything you could do in future to prevent the need for this happening again - the dental team will be able to give you loads of good advice. The onus is on you nad not your daughter, at this age, to preveny similar needs in the future. She'll be fine, really, but its natural to worry.

My crown fell out last night...?

and I wasn't sure if I HAVE to get it replaced or put back in? It was first a root canal about 3 years ago, then crowned last year. I popped a piece of gum in last night while I was at a banquet and my tooth fell onto my tongue, stuck to the gum. The whole thing, crown, post and all. It's not very noticeable, top left 4th from the front, and I really don't want to waste my time or money getting it put back in or replaced. Not to mention how sensitive to pain my mouth is. Is it okay to just leave it alone? I am 20 years old and have very bad teeth (runs in the family, both sides) so I know this unfortunately won't be the last one. Any suggestions on what I should do? Does it need cleaned out by a dentist or anything?
Answer:
It probley doesn't hurt since you have had a root canal, but you spent all that money on the tooth, I wouldn't leave it out too long to many things could happen, then all the money you dropped into this thing will go down the drain. Most drug stores sell a temporary cement material, try putting it in to make sure you have the right fit befor you put the cement in it, that should hold you over until you can get into the dental office but I wouldn't wait anylonger than 2-weeks.
somehow, you need to get to the dentist. Check to see if they make emergency appointments. Your health and teeth are more important.
YVONNE,MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SEE THE DENTIST AND TAKE DAY OFF TO SEE THE DENTIST. NOT A STRANGE REQUEST.
you better go to the dentist. if you just leave it its going to catch cavities and then you're going to have to pull it out
Your dentist will cement it back in place.

My crown and tooth fell out?

Both my crown and the tooth fell out this weekend. My dentist can't see me for a couple of days...is there anything I can do for the pain besides tylonal? It really hurts and it's giving me a headache too. The tooth is a molar.
Answer:
I can't believe your dentist wouldn't help you in an emergency. Call his office again and insist on being seen. They should at least refer you to another dentist for immediate treatment. In the meantime, rinse your mouth with warm, salt water and try Advil or Motrin. For the future, you should consider finding a dentist who is more caring.
You need to call the dentist office again and tell them you need an EMERGENCY appointment and they will fit you in. If they don't fit you in then either call a different dentist and get seen today or as the receptionist to have the dentist call you ASAP so you can ask him to prescribe some pain meds. Since this is an emergency situation I would think they would at least examine you today though so call back.
Shame on him. Get another dentist.
Try one of the local pain-killers. Anbesol or something like that. Usually for toothaches and teething babies.
Try to reach the dentist again. If that doesn't work, try something like Anbesol. They make an adult pain relieving gel or liquid for tooth pain. Also, you might try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water, about 1 tbsp salt in a cup of water.
Good luck with your tooth.
My mom is a Dentist and she gets emergency calls all the time. She just has to cancel other appointments, like teeth cleaning or something that can wait. If you tell your doctor this is an emergency and then he still wont see you.. I would see about going to a different dentist.. maybe just this once or maybe from now on. A missing tooth is a big thing and if it hurts that much don't just suffer, do something about it.

My child has to get braces and she has a tooth higher than the rest on her gums will she have to get it pulled

Please help as fast as you can! My child is worried sick about it.
Answer:
No she won't have to have it pulled :) The orthodontist will eventually put a bracket on that tooth and gradually pull it down with elastic ties so that it is aligned with the rest of her teeth. Tell her not to worry!
yes the same thing happened to my brother. it wasnt that painfull thoe, so dont worry.
My daughter had a tooth pulled when she was 5 and now there is no room for that tooth to come in (she is 10). Apparently the tooth will not come in unless there is room, but the orthodontist told me that if it does come in (above/below the gum line) that she can fix it with the braces. I was worried sick too! Good LUCK!
She might not!I had a permanent tooth that wouldn't even come OUT for the longest time. What ended up happening was that I went through a simple, painless 20-minute operation to cut the gum back and expose the tooth. A little wire was attached from the tooth to the wire of the braces, and the tooth came down in a matter of weeks! If the tooth is already out, then it's also likely that the orthodontist can simply put a bracket on it if it's exposed enough. But don't worry; she probably won't have to get it pulled!
That will be up to the orthodontist. It may be that he plans to pull it but then maybe he's going to move it to a lower place.
maybe maybe not it all depends on where the tooth is located in her mouth. I had a high tooth and my orthodontist left it in and glued the bracket where it is supposed to be but did not engage the wire. Instead he used a thin wire called ligation wire to tie the bracket to the wire. Over a month of constant downward pressure from the wire my tooth came down. If she does have to have the tooth pulled it hurts about like a filling does only for 3-4 days instead of one. A little ora-gel on a q-tip helps alot as does rinsing with salt water
I had the same problem but didnt get mine pulled they just put another bracket on the tooth and put the wire through it and with time it comes down hope this helped have a great day =]
I had braces when I was a kid. I did have some teeth pulled to make space for the rest of the teeth, but it's specifically a few teeth (the pre-molars). If the tooth is higher - unless there is no more space, they might not have to extract it. If there is space for it, its more likely that they will just bracket it, and move it down. That's the whole point of orthodontics anyway, they move the teeth around. But be prepared for the situation that the tooth does get extracted. It's scary, but thousands of others have done it before. It's about a week of discomfort, but in return you get a lifetime of good dental hygiene and comfort. I had braces for 2 years, and most times I was in pain each time they tightened the wires, but it was really worth it. Don't worry about it. There is little pain from the extraction.
As others have said, it depends. I recall when I had braces, two of my teeth were higher than the rest, and I also had very little space. Two of my teeth were removed to make room, but the orthodontist opted to have them cut out, not pulled, since they were toward the back. The teeth they removed were actually behind the higher teeth. Having the teeth cut out didn't hurt at all, and even after the numbing was gone the pain was very minimal. The pressure from the braces themselves was more painful (and annoying) than the process of having teeth removed, or the (hardly noticeable) soreness that followed the removal. If the child has space in her mouth, the teeth will probably just be slowly pulled down into alignment. If she does have to have teeth removed though, no worries, it really doesn't hurt at all.
I Think she will have 2 get them pulled :) My
Friend went through the same thing she got hers pulled %26 now shes great
My two top 'kanine' teeth were higher than the rest of mine... LIKE A WHOLE LOT... and they just put the brackets on them and moved them down. It took a couple of months for them to get into place. Once those were moved down though, there wasn't enough room in my mouth for all my teeth so I had to have four of the back ones pulled (well, the ones right behind my 'kanine' teeth on the top and bottom...but my entire mouth [teethwise anyway] were really messed up, and my mouth is kinda freakishly small, I mean, who doesn't have room for all their teeth?)
Absolutely not. That's what the braces do.

My chick swallows every 4 d. for no reason. I went to the dentist and ear-nose doc and got ntg. any idea?

PLZ INFORM ME IF YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE I DON T KNOW WHAT EXAMS SHOULD I DO. SHOULD I HAVE A MAGNETIC OF MY HEAD?
THE STRANGE THING IS THAT IT STANDS FOR OVER A MONTH NOW AND NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHAT IT IS!
IT BIGINS FROM THE RIGHT OF MY NOSE AND EXTENDS AT THE SECOND DAY THROUGH THE WHOLE RIGHT HALF OF MY FACE. PLS ANSWER!
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
Answer:
Think your chick swells up every four days or on every 4th day(some thing like this).I am not a doctor, you have seen the dentist and the doctor.%26quot;SHOULD I HAVE A MAGNETIC OF MY HEAD%26quot;? You wrote.
If you mean MRI then get it done. But in the mean time try this, buy some B6 vitamin tablets 100 miligram (bottle of 100 tablets), take 3 per day for 4 days, morning after noon and evening.Take 2 per day for next 4 days morning and evening.Take one every day to finish the bottle.See if the swelling goes away and stays away.Hope it works. You can still get MRI done, some times swelling covers up the problem and problem is difficult to find, once the swelling does down then it is easy to find the problem.
I have no idea what you are talking about?Your %26quot;chick%26quot;? Every %26quot;4d.%26quot;? Is it you or someone else? BEGINS from the right of your nose and %26quot;extends at the second day%26quot;? What?Repost and make this clearer
sounds like you have a major sinus problem try a steambath to encourage drainage,

My canines, top and bottom, are longer and sharper than many people I know. Is there a reason for this?

Is this genetic, a fluke, a mutation, or am I just overblowing things? I don't like it, every time I bite my lip or something I draw blood. Please help, please take me seriously!
Answer:
lol, I have the same problem, I'm even a dental assistant and I had to ask why, they're guide teeth, nothing genetically mutating or anything, these teeth are kind of like a barrier against your other teeth to keep from attrition (wearing away) you can get them ground down, but he won't do it too much if he's a good dentist. You need those things haha
i think its because god wanted you to suck peoples blood...lol
your a vampire. just kidding. the dentist can most likely smooth the tooth down for u. i had vampire teeth as well. go to the dentist and let him or her know your concerns.almost forgot. this can usually b done without having anesthetic.
A lot of ppl have canines that are sharper. If it's causing discomfort, your dentist can %26quot;shave%26quot; them down. Don't do it urself u can damage ur tooth.
Avoid sunshine. Avoid garlic. Avoid crosses. Especially be aware of stakes.

My brother needs major dental surgery and braces, are there any help out there?

We can't afford dental insurance and his teeth is bleeding and probably has a lot of cavities. His teeth is really crooked also but we don't have any money to afford a major fix up.
Are there any assistance out there or good dental insurance that will cover everything?
Answer:
Most major urban areas have free or nearly free dental clinics serving the needy. These types of clinics will get a patient out of pain but won't do much in the way of treatment. Dental schools are a good way but again, they won't do the treatment entirely for free. Your best bet is to visit your local dentists and present your case to them. Tell them you can't afford treatment but are willing to ________________. I've done dental treatment in exchange for a number of products and services that the patient was willing to barter with; including sporting goods, cleaning services, haircuts, tailored clothing, plumbing, construction, etc. Most dentists have a big heart, they just don't want the patient to be the one who decides who gets the free dentistry.
is there a dental school near you!= if so, try there
You could look for dental colleges in your area They offer the same services for a lot less.
JAMES,
ABOUT THE ONLY PLACES TO LOOK IN FOR YOU WOULD BE IN DENTAL SCHOOLS FOR THE MOST REASONABLE RATES AND BEST OUTCOME
IF MONEY IS A REAL PROBLEM CONSIDER TAKING IT ONE STEP AT TIME. BEGIN WITH THE GUMS FIRST, THEN THE CAVITIES, AND LEAVE THE CROOKED TEETH FOR LAST.
YOU NEED A SPECIAL TREATMENT PLAN THAT IS COMPREHENSIVE AND DEALS WITH THE MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES FIRST, AND WHEN EVERYTHING IS HEALTHY, DEALS WITH THE COSMETIC OUTCOME LAST.
I don't know about any insurance that covers everything, but I use a dental discount plan and for every dental service you pay a discounted price rather than full price. It helps save me money..www.wehavebenefits.com

My brackets on my braces move wt should i do ?

Answer:
As most brackets are meant to be stationary---some however, are meant to move slightly (spring-like action movement) BUT, the only way to be sure if the brackets are intended to move or stay fixed it to check w/your ortho. guy.Best of luck to you with your smile getting aligned and you are happy with the results! Keep on smiling ;0)Sincerely, Tina
Go back to the dentist to get them tightened.
go to your orthadontist, they werent glued down properly and need to be redone. make sure the doctor makes note of the technition who put your braces on
if there not meant to, get the brackets readjusted and tightened by your dentist.
orthodontist pronto-hapnd to me, left it 4 a few days and it became really uncomftable. Make an appoinment asap
The bracket(s) have most likely come unstuck - this is not entirely uncommon. Make an appointment as soon as possible to get the bracket(s) restuck back on!! The longer you leave it to get them fixed the longer your treatment will take!!
Make an appointment with your orthodontist as soon as possible - happens quite a lot, especially if you eat hard foods

My braces wire popped of and is poking at the inside of my cheeks. How can I completely remove the wire.?

This is an emergency and my orthodontist is closed. The wire is painful and I cannot go to sleep. I need to find a way to remove the wire.
Answer:
Whatever you do don't take out the wire! I had braces %26 it happened to me once. You need to use this special wax, you just smooth it over. Then make an appointment for the ortho as soon as you can. You should have got the wax when you first go the braces..
can you not go to emergency and get some help from them
Well from my experience of having worn braces, I know that the colored bands help secure the wire in place. If you remove the bands off, then you can easily pop the wire off.
You cannot remove the wire by yourself. You can really mess up your braces and make things even worse.
Try putting lots of wax on it, or try pushing it back with a pencil eraser or using hemastats (sp?) to pull it back in place
i could only suggest going to an urgent care clinic. i know those are typically not associated with dental work, but you removing the wire yourself is pretty much a bad plan.
if you have an emery board, you may be able to file the wire in a way that keeps it from stabbing you.
I would suggest that next time you get the emergency contact for your orthodontist. Meanwhile try using the wax that you have to stop the wire from digging into your cheek.
You should not complete remove the wire. Put wax on the wire so it does not poke you. If a lot is loose, cut it as close to your next bracket as possible and if needed, put wax on it. Call your orthodontist on Monday and hopefully they will get you in as soon as possible.Good luck!
Braces still do this to kids? I thought they were so advanced now, invisible without any wires! You need to try to bend the end of the wire so that it can no longer pierce your cheek. Do not try to take the wire out!! Do you know someone who has those needle-nose pliers for making jewelry? They could really help you out. Good luck, and have someone take you to the ER if you have to.
Find a way to bend the wire back to your teeth. Try to take your finger and bend it back.
It'd be very difficult to remove the wire completely, depending on the type of brackets. If you have rubber bands around each one then they would all have to be taken off. However, if they are self-locking then you're screwed there. The wire can be bent, though its not always easy. You can try to find a good spot to bend it back to where it stays near the teeth. If you have any ortho wax, then put a whole lot of it around the sharp edge and try to coat it as best you can. If you try to pull it out through the brackets you'll be putting some very undesirable forces on your teeth though. If you are really gutsy have someone cut the less end with wire-cutters (don't swallow the end that breaks free) and then cover that up with wax, but I wouldn't really recommend that unless absolutely necessary.
DON'T TAKE OUT THE WIRE, just put wax on it or something, you can't take it out. Suck on some ice to numb your cheek. Go see your doctor tomorrow.

My braces hurt?

i just got my braces yesterday and they hurt when i try to eat something. do you have any ideas on how to make it not hurt?
Answer:
When I had my braces it took about 2 weeks for the inside of my mouth to toughen up from the pain. To get through it I bought Anbesol antiseptic for the mouth. I would rub it on the whole inside of my mouth to numb it. When you first put it on it burns for about 2-3 seconds and then no pain for hours. This allowed me to eat like a normal person. Also you might want to ask your doctor for some wax. You can put this in your braces where your inside of your mouth rubs on the braces. This also helped a lot.
put butter on themyay butter!
stick to soft foods or even liquids for the next two days.
this is totally common
did they say it was okay to take aleve or asprin or any of the like?
they are suppost to hurt silly :)
Been there, done that and i feel for you. I would suggest tylenol or advil and definitely lots of ice cream - the cold is soothing, trust me. Nothing hard or crunchy for the first couple of days because your teeth have to adjust. Breads and french fries are also good. Good luck and hang in there.
take a pill. ex. advil. You should eat a lot of soup instead of solids for the first weak as well.
some sort of Ibuprofen (motrin, advil, tylonol) really helps. try having as little solid hard food as you can
put waxs on them or eatin little bittes and chew way in the back of your mouth
Eat soemthing cold, like ice cream or popsicles. The colder the better - it will numb the nerves for a bit. Worked for me, though I ate a bit too many and gained a little weight. %26gt;.%26lt;
The best thing to do is to take something for the pain. When I had braces they hurt so bad so I took Acetaminophen (Tylenol). Also remember you shouldn't eat things that you can't (like apples or chew hard candy) or eat less than 3 hours after getting them tightened or cleaned. It sucks now but in the end you'll be happy.
try to eat soft food if you can, and don't think about it to much, after a few days every thing is going to be ok!
I do not how to relieve your mouth pain it is normal for braces to hurt for a while after having them installed. The only advice I can give is give it time the pain will go away. Your dentist should have given you a prescription for xylocaine. It is a gum numbing ointment
well its natural 4 them 2 hurt, and i dont think u can completely make the pain go away, but try takin watever pain reliever u usually take! thats always helpful...also rinse ur mouth w/ salty warm water, it works well
stick w/ soft foods...it'll stop hurting soon!
Sweetie, I have braces on now and I know what you're going through. Sorry to tell you this but there really isn't much at all you can do. Your gums are adjusting to the shifting, it's not your teeth that hurt it's your gums. You really just have to stick to soft foods for like a week if not more. I couldn't eat steak for like three weeks and when I would wake up in the morning it would KILL ME! You know, because you haven't moved all night and that's when your teeth shift the most. So have fun.be careful not to break them and listen to your orthodontist when he says floss, brush regularly and stay away from sticky foods. A tip: braces seem to make the mouth hum a lot faster so being hygenic is SUPER IMPORTANT. Another tip: use wax like your life depended on it. Braces cut up the mouth like it's no joke! Good luck! :-D
it is supposed to be like that.. try eating softer foods...
