My braces wire popped of and is poking at the inside of my cheeks. How can I completely remove the wire.?

This is an emergency and my orthodontist is closed. The wire is painful and I cannot go to sleep. I need to find a way to remove the wire.
Answer:
Whatever you do don't take out the wire! I had braces %26 it happened to me once. You need to use this special wax, you just smooth it over. Then make an appointment for the ortho as soon as you can. You should have got the wax when you first go the braces..
can you not go to emergency and get some help from them
Well from my experience of having worn braces, I know that the colored bands help secure the wire in place. If you remove the bands off, then you can easily pop the wire off.
You cannot remove the wire by yourself. You can really mess up your braces and make things even worse.
Try putting lots of wax on it, or try pushing it back with a pencil eraser or using hemastats (sp?) to pull it back in place
i could only suggest going to an urgent care clinic. i know those are typically not associated with dental work, but you removing the wire yourself is pretty much a bad plan.
if you have an emery board, you may be able to file the wire in a way that keeps it from stabbing you.
I would suggest that next time you get the emergency contact for your orthodontist. Meanwhile try using the wax that you have to stop the wire from digging into your cheek.
You should not complete remove the wire. Put wax on the wire so it does not poke you. If a lot is loose, cut it as close to your next bracket as possible and if needed, put wax on it. Call your orthodontist on Monday and hopefully they will get you in as soon as possible.Good luck!
Braces still do this to kids? I thought they were so advanced now, invisible without any wires! You need to try to bend the end of the wire so that it can no longer pierce your cheek. Do not try to take the wire out!! Do you know someone who has those needle-nose pliers for making jewelry? They could really help you out. Good luck, and have someone take you to the ER if you have to.
Find a way to bend the wire back to your teeth. Try to take your finger and bend it back.
It'd be very difficult to remove the wire completely, depending on the type of brackets. If you have rubber bands around each one then they would all have to be taken off. However, if they are self-locking then you're screwed there. The wire can be bent, though its not always easy. You can try to find a good spot to bend it back to where it stays near the teeth. If you have any ortho wax, then put a whole lot of it around the sharp edge and try to coat it as best you can. If you try to pull it out through the brackets you'll be putting some very undesirable forces on your teeth though. If you are really gutsy have someone cut the less end with wire-cutters (don't swallow the end that breaks free) and then cover that up with wax, but I wouldn't really recommend that unless absolutely necessary.
DON'T TAKE OUT THE WIRE, just put wax on it or something, you can't take it out. Suck on some ice to numb your cheek. Go see your doctor tomorrow.
