My 6yr old has to get some dental work done...?

can u plz expain to me what it is? She goes back to the dentist on may 7..she will get ...i think he called them caps? i don't remember. She didnt have any cavities..but he wanted theis done. So, can someone expalin what he is putting on her teeth..and why he is, if she had no sign of cavities?
Answer:
6 y/o? Caps? Not sure what this could be... it could be a type of 'sealant' that is the latest craze.. It's where that 'fill in' the tops of the teeth (you know, down the center of the top of the teeth) to protect against cavities and sensitivity. This is usually only done for children with weak teeth, or for children who have ground down their teeth from nervousness or grinding in their sleep. Most, if not all of her teeth are still baby teeth however so none of this really makes much sense to me.I would get a second opinion (take her in to see another dentist) before getting this done.
are you talking about sealant? that would make more sense, but she seems alittle young. call the dentist and ask for details!
Sealants are a protective layer that goes in the groves of the molars...to prevent cavities...it wont hurt at all..they just paint the surface of the molar and use a light to seal the tooth...just make sure your insurance covers them on baby teeth and not just permanent molars to a certain age...good luck...
